Been a bit quiet!

So what has been happening?
Well I have been pretty much Ill, Ill and then Ill again.
Juliet in Nursery as I started back at work meant weeks of Colds and Coughs. This caused my asthma to become worse so steroids, new inhalers and this seems to be getting under control again.
What is not under control is Juliet's sleeping or lack of it.

Training when I am tired is hard. If I don't get enough sleep I find running harder work and I don't enjoy it as much. It also seems that the less sleep I get the more illnesses I pick up.

Maybe…just maybe though things are improving……..

I did the International Snowdon race a couple of weeks ago which was great. My first race after a few weeks of being ill, I struggled with my breathing on the climb but had a great descent. I was around 250th to the summit and overtook around 65 people on the way down. I loved the downhill and will be back next year to improve my time.

Then a little jaunt off to Glencoe to recce some of the Glencoe Skyline Route for August the 22nd. We managed to spend 6 and a half hours getting lost in the mist. We covered 13 miles in that time. WHOOOPS! Maybe I need a Nav course - Joe Faulkner! What was lovely however was the fact that we managed to descend into Glen Etive (Which isn't on the route by the way) It did however give me chance to relive my youth and days Paddling on this awesome river and to ponder life above a perilous drop where Dave Johnson and Davide Calogero performed a death defying Rescue of a Topolino Spud. Happy days!

The jaunt went from bad to worse when storms battered our tent in the night and we were forced to abandon ship and make a retreat back to Helens……borough…(Like that Hels?) for the saving grace of our trip, a lovely run up Ben Lomond the following day.

What will forever remain in our minds though are two things…..

Why is a sheep transporter named on the OS map but Curved Ridge isn't?

and where on earth had we actually been to descend off the wrong side of the valley! We have no idea.
