I've had a couple of superb days training in the Lakes in January.....One with Ian, Emily and Murphy from High Terrain Events and another cracker with Tim Pigott and buddies Helen and Joe.
Both days were filled with snow, laughter, hills and fun.
The first day we had a great trek out from Duddon....after some confusion over a Bridge and a Red Phone box.....I eventually found Ian and Emily's house and we had a superb day in the snow and the gusting wind.
As usual I haven't a clue where we went but as normal Mr Mulvey looked after us and the superstar guide gave us a cracking day out....topped off with homemade soup too!
The next day out was a jaunt out on the Langdales in thigh deep snow! We had lots of fun and I felt like a ten year old playing out with my friends. We won't discuss the distance covered let's just leave it that we were out for five hours.
I'm very lucky to have superb baby sitters who let me play out and get my running fix.
Training is going well and i'm getting about 45 miles a week in and plenty of playing on the hills. I feel like I am getting fitter, the hills are getting easier although I am not doing quite as much Core work as I should.
This week should be another good week of training ending with Anglezarke Amble 24 miler on Saturday.....I need to get used to running 3 plus hours and remind myself how to fuel properly again......Pick and Mix is not really the answer!
This week is also finally the time that Juliet is big enough for the big seat in the Joggster iii and that means I can do more training with her. This means my mileage should be increasing nicely also means i'll have some resistance training on the hills.
